ADHD Treatment Overview

Treatment for ADHD involves a comprehensive approach, starting with education for caregivers, family members, and individuals living with ADHD. Studies show that education enhances long-term treatment adherence. Best practices in ADHD management include regular medical follow-ups, support for families, behavioural interventions, educational accommodations, and, when necessary, medication. While stimulant medications are often used, non-stimulants are also available. A multi-modal approach, combining therapies like cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness with medication, is considered most effective. The goal of treatment is symptom management and improving daily functioning, not curing ADHD.
