Executive Functioning and ADHD

Executive functions are mental processes that help individuals plan, manage time, and regulate emotions. For those with ADHD, impairments in executive functioning can lead to challenges with starting and completing tasks, staying focused, and managing multiple responsibilities. These difficulties can affect academic performance and daily life. ADHD may also impair working memory, self-regulation, and emotional control. Although medication can alleviate some ADHD symptoms, it is essential to implement strategies for organization and time management, as well as accommodations in school and work environments.
