Information for Educators

It is essential for educators to understand ADHD as a neurodevelopmental disorder that can significantly impair learning. With at least one to three students with ADHD in every classroom, teachers can benefit from proactive strategies and accommodations tailored to ADHD students. These students may exhibit varying behaviours, such as hyperactivity or inattention, which can be mistaken for laziness or defiance. Effective teaching strategies include focusing on academic impairments and providing structured support. While medication can help with attention and impulsivity, classroom interventions are crucial for long-term success.
